Dharmendra, 43, was in dire need of money and wanted to buy a plot in Rajasthan and so he allegedly staged the conspiracy last week to grab the money of his company, said Parmaditya, DCP (central).
Dharmendra who worked with a trader in Karol Bagh as a collection agent had alleged on September 2 that two bike-borne robbers looted him when he was returning to his office after collecting an amount of Rs 21 lakh from Chandni Chowk and Sadar Bazar areas.
Police pointed out "major contradictions" in Dharmendra's statement and continued his interrogation confronting him with various facts which did not match his version of the alleged robbery.
Finally, Dharmendra broke down and admitted that he had concocted the whole story of robbery for the money as he was in dire need of it as he wanted to purchase land in his home state Rajasthan.
"The man was in dire need of money and so collected amount of Rs 21 lakh of his company from different parts of Delhi and kept it with him. He caused simple hurt to himself by a broken glass of beer to mislead the police and made a PCR call regarding robbery. But after the case was registered and the interrogations made from various sources the police revealed his concocted conspiracy," the officer said.
