A man who allegedly tried to dupe his employer by faking a robbery of Rs 6 lakh, has been arrested, police said today.
Rambir Singh, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, was nabbed from Subhash Place area in North-West Delhi and Rs 4.75 lakh cash and a mobile seized at his instance yesterday, according to police.
"Ansul Agarwal reported that his employee Singh told him that at gunpoint two persons robbed Rs 6 lakh he was carrying after receiving payment from a party.
"According to Singh, the incident took place on Sunday near Shakurpur, Ring Road. The robbers also took away the keys of his motorcycle and his mobile phone," said a police officer.
However, during investigation, police found that no such incident took place.
When Singh was interrogated, he broke down and revealed that due to some financial problem and to fulfil his and family's personal desires, he planned a fake robbery, police said.
"On Sunday, he planned the fake robbery along with his associate. After collecting the payment from some parties, as per his plan, he gave the money to his associate and informed his employer about the fake robbery. We have recovered Rs 4.75 lakh cash and one mobile phone at his instance," the officer said.
Further investigation is on to apprehend his associate and to recover the remaining cash, police said.
