Prashanth Paramkusham met the victim through a matrimonial site, where he had falsely claimed in his profile that he was a software professional.
He claimed that he had done his engineering from NIT Bhopal and later did MBA from Mumbai and had worked for leading Indian and foreign IT firms and visited US many times, they said.
He also claimed that he was now into film production and earned around Rs 30-40 lakh annually.
Prashanth allegedly asked the girl to loan him some money for marriage expenses and to buy jewellery, saying he could not encash his fixed deposits immediately, police said.

She gave him Rs 4 lakh. The marriage took place on March 20 at Miyapur.
"After the marriage, she left for US on March 25 due to her job requirement. He promised that he would obtain visa and follow her to the US. But later he stated he could not get visa," a police official said.
The victim's family inquired and realised that he was lying. They also found out that the information given by him regarding his education among others, was false and he may have cheated other women too in this way.
The victim's mother lodged a police complaint earlier this month following which Prashanth was arrested today. Further probe is on.
