Man held for robbing a luxury car

A man has been arrested for allegedly robbing a luxury car from its driver at gunpoint from near a posh South Delhi hotel, police said today.
Kamal (28) was arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police on Monday after it received a tip-off that he would come to Gautampuri to meet his accomplices.
Police had received a complaint from one Inderjeet, who is working as a driver with one Mahender Singh. He told police that on November 4 he brought a guest to Hyatt Regency Hotel and parked his Innova car near Passport Office, R.K.Puram and was waiting for the guest.
At about 07:30 PM, four persons came there, overpowered him at gun point and took him away along with the car. On the way, he was robbed of his purse and mobile phone, assaulted and injured with knife by two persons sitting on the rear seat and was thrown out of the car near Sector-93 in Noida, police said.
On investigation, police learnt that Kamal was one of the assailants in the case. However, his address was found fake, following which informers were deployed to locate him.
During interrogation, he allegedly disclosed to police that he, along with his three associates John, Om Prakash alias Pappi and Bhupender Singh, formed a gang and armed themselves with two knives and a country-made pistol They then targeted Inderjeet, threatened him at gun point and overpowered him.
"John took over the driving seat of the Innova car, while the victim was pulled down by the other two towards the rear seat. He was assaulted with knife when he tried to raise an alarm. He was robbed of his belongings, which included his purse containing driving license, Rs 2000 and a mobile phone and then thrown out of the Innova car in Baghel area of Noida.
"Later on, the robbed vehicle was sold for Rs 90,000. The remaining accused John, Pappi and Bhupender Singh are still absconding. Efforts are on to arrest them and recover the case property," said a senior police official.
