As per police, Gajaba (30), a resident of Uttar Pradesh was arrested at Rajeev Chowk metro station this morning and police found Rs 4.7 lakh cash in his bag which he had allegedly stolen from a passenger.
"The victim, who was in his late 50s and was going to Uttam Nagar from Seelampur, boarded the train from Kashmiri Gate. When he reached Rajeev Chowk, he found the cash missing from his bag, following which he raised an alarm," said a police official.
During interrogation, Gajaba allegedly told police that they worked as a gang of three or more people. First, they fix a target in the metro and the other members surround after which one of them cut open the victim's bag and they take away the cash or valuables in it, police said.
A search has been launched to nab his other accomplices, police said.
