Two leopard hides were recovered from two bike-borne persons, Ganesh and Prabhulal, following which a case under Wildlife Act was registered against Akash at Hathipole police station in Udaipur of Rajasthan last year.
Eight persons, including Akash's mother Rani, were arrested in this case, but he was absconding. A non-bailable warrant was issued against him, police said.
Yesterday, when crime branch sleuths arrived at Motia Khan in Paharganj area to arrest Akash, his family members allegedly pelted stones and bit them.
Akash's father Sansar Chand was a notorious interstate trafficker of wild animals and booked in several cases under Wildlife Act. He died at a hospital in Jaipur in 2004. He was lodged in Alwar jail at that time and was suffering from cancer.
