The accused, Sajjan allegedly found the coins from a sand dune recently and had even sold 16 of them at a value of Rs seven lakh to a jeweller in Barwala in Hisar district, they said.
Later, on a tip-off that the accused was trying to dispose off the remaining coins, a raid was conducted and those were recovered from his possession, police said.
Meanwhile, the officials of Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) have told police that these coins are unique samples of metallurgy and ancient coin art and state government will be requested to give these coins for research and further studies.
