Man held with gold worth Rs 77 lakh at airport

A man has been arrested for allegedly trying to smuggle into the country gold bars valuing about Rs 77 lakh at the international airport here.
The accused was intercepted by customs officials after his arrival from Riyadh yesterday.
"On detailed examination of his baggage and personal search, 26 pieces of gold bars total weighing about three kgs were recovered," a press release issued today by the customs said.
The passenger was arrested and gold recovered from his was seized, it said.
The value of the seized gold bars is assessed to be Rs 76.68 lakh, the release said.
