Acting on a tip-off, Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) nabbed Devendra Bhatia (50) near Geeta Mandir bus stop area with the hashish (charas) which was allegedly for delivery to a city-based drug dealer.
"It was learnt that a middle-aged man will come to Geeta Mandir bus stop with hashish and thus, we kept a watch outside the bus station and nabbed Bhatia when he was walking towards Lal Darwaja and seized 450 grams hashish from his bag," Crime Branch police Sub-Inspector V H Jadeja said.
"To make some extra money, he came to the city from Haridwar to sell the drug. We are now investigating to whom it was to be delivered and whether he has delivered drugs in the city in the past," he said.
Bhatia was arrested under relevant sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), police said.
