Man impersonates as Labour dept officer, held

One person has been arrested for allegedly impersonating as a Labour department officer and issuing fake registrations to service providers of the Amarnath Yatra in the central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, police said.
Deputy commissioner, Ganderbal and labour commissioner, J and K received specific compliant that some persons were allegedly issuing "fake" service provider registration cards to the service providers of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra by charging a hefty amount, an official spokesman said here today.
He said the deputy commissioner, Ganderbal Piyush Singla and labour commissioner Abdul Rashid directed the assistant labour commissioner, Ganderbal Murtaza Ahmad Sheikh to proceed to Sonamarg to investigate the specific complaint.
The assistant labour commissioner, Ganderbal, along with the J-K police, raided a local hotel and caught a man impersonating as labour officer of Labour department and issuing service provider registration cards against a hefty sum of Rs 600 to Rs 1000, the spokesman said.
The normal fee for service provider registration cards is Rs 50.
The man was found in possession of incriminating documents and arrested, the spokesman said, adding an FIR has been registered against him.
In another case, police have nabbed few persons involved in black marketing of helicopter tickets on Neelgrath Panjtarni route, the spokesman said.
