Already under attack over the 'solar panel' scam, Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy faced another embarrassment with a contract employee in his office being accused of "misbehaviour" with a woman over phone, leading to his dismissal.
K P Giriesh Kumar, a contract employee attached to the "24x7 Call Center" in the Chief Minister's Office here was dismissed two days back based on a complaint made by the victim who alleged he had sought "sexual favour" from her when she contacted CMO over telephone to take up a grievance.
A CMO release issued today said the action against Girish Kumar for "misbehaviour" with a woman followed a departmental enquiry after getting the complaint.
He was dismissed on June 12, the next day of getting the report of the Secretary, General Administration Department, on the matter. Chandy also ordered a police investigation into the allegation of the woman.
The woman told Malayalam television channels that she had given a complaint in this regard about a month ago. The release said Girish had been kept away from the job immediately on getting the complaint.
A personal assistant and a gun man in the CMO were removed from Chandy's personal staff a week back after they were found to have engaged in frequent telephonic talks with Saritha Nair,
an accused in the solar panel scam.
The opposition LDF has unleashed a strong campaign within and outside the state assembly over the scam demanding Chandy's resignation.
