Chances of his survival are bleak, the police said.
According to the Worli police, the person has been identified as 45-year-old Vikram Vasudev, who halted his car on the sea link at about 6 AM and suddenly jumped into the sea.
Vasudev, a resident of Prabhadevi in central Mumbai, was under depression following the death of his son due to brain tumour four years ago. He had also been facing a financial crisis, for the past one month, the police said.
The guard shouted at him, sensing that Vasudev might take the extreme step.

In the last three weeks, this is the fourth suicide incident in which a victim jumped from the BWSL.
Eight suicides were reported on the sea link this year.
The police plans to co-ordinate with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to prevent suicides after such incidents.
