Ramdev Kirad (60), a resident of Runeja village, sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a government hospital where he died, Sanjay Royal, SHO Dablana police station, said.
The grocery shop was also severely damaged in the incident, he added.
The driver of the speeding truck, which belonged to a mega highway construction company, has been arrested and a case registered against him, he said.
The locals and Ramdev's family members staged a protest, demanding compensation following which officials reached the spot along with the manager of the company which owned the truck to pacify them, he said.
