A man allegedly killed his father-in-law for opposing affair with his sister-in-law in Kishanganj town of Bihar, around 370 km northeast from the state capital during the wee hours today.
Kishanganj Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Mohammad Qasim said the incident happened at Nunia Tola in Dumaria locality of the town and the deceased has been identified as Lakshmi Chauhan (60).
He said while the culprit identified as Munna Chauhan is absconding, his wife Pappu Devi and sister-in-law Ruby Devi have been arrested from Kishanganj bus stand while trying to flee after the crime. They have been charged with being accomplices in the act.
"Munna got married around 10 years ago. He shifted to his in-laws house later on, and developed intimacy with Ruby. Lakshmi was opposed to the relationship. An argument broke out between them and he was beaten to death," Qasim said.
An FIR has been registered on the statement of deceased person's wife Dhaniya Devi, who has named her son-in-law and two daughters in it.
The body has been sent for postmortem and the police is conducting raids to nab the absconder.
