children allegedly cutting them into parts at Kumullipara under Howly outpost in Assam's Barpeta district today, police sources said.
The man, identified as Mainuddin, killed his seven-year-old son Sahabul Islam and four-year-old daughter Khadija Begum in the absence of their mother, the sources said.
Mainuddin's neighbours claimed he killed his children in protest against his father-in-law not giving him land as demanded by him.
Local residents handed over Mainuddin to the police and investigations were on, the sources added.
