They said the 29-year-old man had boarded a tomato laden lorry early this morning and a short while later asked the driver to stop near a hairpin bend on a ghat section so that he could attend to nature's call.
When he did not return, the driver grew suspicious, left the spot and informed forest department officials.
They rushed to the area with armed guards, launched a search and found his half eaten body.
Forest Department officials said the particular area is noted for tiger movement and felt one of the felines might have attacked the man and killed him.
