Man poses as Director General of DD, dupes unemployed youths

Cyberabad Police today arrested a man accused of duping unemployed youths by posing as Director General for Doordarshan and collected huge amounts from the aspirants by promising them jobs in the public broadcaster.
On a tip off, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of Cyberabad Police apprehended B Vinod Kumar, a native of Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh from L B Nagar here, for posing as Director General of Doordarshan of Ramanthapur here, police said.
According to the police, Kumar lured unemployed youth on pretext of getting them jobs in Doordarshan and collected huge amount from them.
The accused contacted the victims through net, phone and through a fake e-mail Id 'doordarshan.Newdelhi99@gmail.Com', a release from Cyberabad Police said.
"He convinced the unemployed youths that recruitment notification was published in newspapers for the post of accountant and other clerical jobs in Doordarshan and asked to send their resumes to his email Id," the police said.
"He lured them of providing jobs if they pay huge amounts. He also morphed his photo with VVIPs attending functions and showed to the victims," they said.

At least four victims paid him a total sum of Rs 14,60,000.
The accused prepared fake appointment letter of the candidates and their identity cards, canteen cards and booking of air tickets for Delhi to join, they said.
The victims later came to know that they were cheated by the accused. Kumar threatened them with dire consequences when the victims approached him for taking back their money, police said, adding later they booked a case in connection with the matter.
