Man posing as top civil aviation official held

A man was arrested today for allegedly seeking classified information while claiming himself to be Assistant Director General of Civil Aviation at Sri Guru Ramdas International Airport (known as Rajasansi Airport) here.
The accused, identified as Mohan Lal, had been enjoying VVIP treatment for the last two days, visited certain offices of the airport building and even held meeting with officials on the pretext of surprise check, said SHO of Rajasansi Airport Police Station Mohan Singh.
Suspicion arose when he started seeking certain classified information following which he was arrested, police said, adding the accused, who had been living in Amritsar for the past few years, is being interrogated about the motive of his visit to the airport.
Mohan Lal had told the airport officials that he came from Tamil Nadu for surprise check of airport arrangements for passengers, police said.
An 'assistant', identified Gauri Shanker, who had accompanied the accused was also arrested. He told police that he paid Mohan Lal Rs 7.5 lakh for the job and was attached to the accused on Rs 22,000 salary per month.
Mohan Lal had allegedly cheated one PCS officer of Rs 4.5 lakh by promising to pay him Rs 60,000 per cell phone tower to be installed at his rented place in Amritsar, they said.
Notably, Sri Guru Ramdas Airport had remained in the hit lists of terrorists.
