The case was that the convict Murugan had entered the residence of his house-owner on November 18,2010 near Rajapalayam and killed the latter's wife by stabbing and throwing a grinding stone at her. He then stole valuables including the woman's gold chain and absconded.
Judicial Magistrate R Tharani sentenced him to five years imprisonment under IPC section 450 (House trespass in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment for life) and seven years under IPC section 392 (punishment for robbery) and then to life under IPC section 302 (punishment for murder), police said.
