A bank official here has secured a place in the Guinness Book of World Records by tying a perfect 'Windsor Knot' of necktie in 17.91 seconds.
Popularly known as "Mr Tie man," Deepak Sharma, who was born and brought up in Gujarat, broke the record of Cyprus-based Sam Dove (20.27 seconds) created in 2008.
Acknowledging the attempt which was made in a public place on December 28, 2013, Guinness Book of World Records awarded the certificate to Sharma on March 8.
An officer in Punjab and Sind Bank's Maharana Pratap Nagar branch here, Sharma, who is fond of sporting necktie round-the-year, told PTI today that he has a collection of 3,520 different theme-based ties with him.
"For every occasion, whether it is World Environment Day, Women's Day, Anti-Tobacco Day or any other day having a social message, I sport a tie to spread awareness about that particular issue," he said.
He claimed that since December 1988 he has worn a necktie every day. He also said that earlier he used to purchase one tie every month, but later started buying them in bulk.
About 90 per cent of his necktie collection is from countries like Korea, America, China and 37 other countries, while the rest are from Indian companies.
