A 32-year-old man was shot at by an unidentified person near a mall in south-east Delhi's Sarita Vihar area this evening, police said.
The incident took place around 7 PM when Adil Khan, a collection agent working for a private telecom company reached close to a mall in the area with a friend on his motorcycle.
Police suspect that Khan might be known to the shooter r as they had a verbal spat before the shooting happened.
He had stopped next to a cigarette shop and was engaged in a conversation with his friend when a man came walking. They had a verbal spat, said a senior police officer.
The third man then took out a country made pistol and fired one round at Khan who collapsed on the floor bleeding.
His friend and the assailant both fled the scene and it was a passerby who made a PCR call.
Khan was admitted to Apollo Hospital and his condition is stated to be critical, the police said adding a case under Section 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered at the Sarita Vihar police station and they are scanning CCTV footage from the area to gain clues in the case.
