50-year-old Shraddhanand Tyagi, a resident of Mainapur village, was going back to his home in an auto-rickshaw after completing his duty late last night, SHO Muradnagar Subodh Saxena said.
Unidentified assailants fired at him from close range injuring Tyagi, he said. Tygai was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.
An FIR has been registered against unknown persons and police is investigating the case.
