Deceased Suraj of Kusedi village worked as a cleaner in Ghaziabad and on late Sunday night, he took a lift on his friend's motorbike.
"When the they reached near Rajwahe flyover, six unidentified armed assailants stopped them and demanded money and mobiles," said a police officer.
When Suraj resisted the robbers, one of them shot at him and fled, the officer added.
He was rushed to nearby hospital where they declared him brought dead.
"We are investigating the case and all the six accused will be arrested soon," the officer said.
Following intervention from senior police officials, a case was registered at the Jani police station last evening, sources said.
