three unidentified miscreants in Odisha's Puri town in broad daylight today, police said.
The deceased identified as Purna Chandra Sahu (35) was standing near a betel shop at Balisahi in this pilgrim town when the three motor cycle borne miscreants fired five rounds at him from two pistols, Sashi Bhushan Satpathy, Deputy Superintendent (DSP) of Police, Puri said.
He was immediately taken to a private hospital, where the doctor declared him brought dead.
Though the motive behind the ghastly crime was not immediately known, land dispute between the accused persons and Sahu is ruled out, the DSP said after conducting preliminary investigations.
