Man shots 21-year-old wife dead, arrested

A 21-year-old woman was shot dead allegedly by her husband at Mata Colony in Vijay Nagar area here today, police said, adding that a case of dowry death was registered in connection with the incident and the accused arrested.
According to SHO Nazir Ali, Reema Khatoon was shot dead by her husband Akram who was arrested by the police soon after the incident.
Yameen Pradhan, the father of the deceased and a native of Baghpat district, alleged in his police complaint that his daughter married Akram four years ago and ever since, she was being continuously harassed for more dowry.

The complainant alleged that his daughter was killed by the accused as she failed to bring more dowry from her parents.
An FIR has been registered under section 304B (dowry death) of the IPC, said the SHO.
