A 28-year-old woman was allegedly stabbed to death by her brother-in-law in Khajuri Khas of east Delhi over a property dispute, police said today.
The accused, identified as Munna, also attacked the victim's brother with an iron rod when the latter attempted to nab him yesterday at 9.30 pm, they said.
A case of murder and attempt to murder has been registered against the accused.
"We are in look out for Munna who is absconding. His parents too have fled from their house," a police official said.
"The deceased's husband Shabir has alleged that Aamna (his wife) was killed in front of their three children and that he got to know of the incident from his eldest son Danish," said the official.
Shabir and Munna were involved in a dispute over the house among themselves. Yesterday, Munna had an argument with Aamna over the house following which he allegedly stabbed her repeatedly in front of her two sons and a daughter.
The children raised an alarm after which Munna fled from the spot. But Aamna's brother Tanveer who was walking toward the house tried to stop Munna on which the accused attacked him with an iron rod.
Neighbours who had reached the spot informed the police. Aamna was rushed to a hospital where she was declared brought dead by doctors. Tanveer is recuperating at a city hospital.
