Anxious moments prevailed in Podanur area in the city, when a 40-year-old AIADMK worker climbed atop a cell phone tower, threatening to jump down seeking release of party supermo, Jayalalithaa from the jail.
Much to the surprise of the passersby, Paraman suddenly climbed up the tower in a commercial complex waving the party flag and shouting slogans, police said.
He started shouting that Jayalalithaa should be released, failing which, he threatened to jump down and commit suicide.
However, with the help of Fire and Rescue Service personnel, police managed to convince Paraman and brought him down and sent home after issuing a stern warning, easing the tense moments in the area.
