Man throws acid on woman for refusing advances in Rajasthan

A 27-year-old married woman was today injured when a man threw acid on her for refusing his advances here, police said.
The 35-year-old accused was pressuring the woman to live with him but she refused, they said.
He hurled acid on the woman in a shopping mall in Jhotwara area where she works in the housekeeping. Both live in the same locality in Bhatta basti, DCP West Ashok Gupta said.
The woman received 15 per cent burn injuries while the accused also received 20 per cent burn injuries, he said.
Both were admitted at the SMS government hospital, Gupta said, adding the accused is under detention of the police.
The accused, an autorickshaw driver, was married twice and both of his wives do not live with him, he said.
Meanwhile, full time secretary of district legal services authority- Jaipur metropolitan Satya Prakash Soni sent a team to the hospital to probe the matter.
A member of the team Vivek Sharma said the victim will be issued compensation after completing formalities.
