Man tries to set afire woman in Muzaffarnagar

A 30-year-old man allegedly tried killed a woman by setting her ablaze at Mujheda Sadat village in Miranpur area here after she refused to withdraw a case of sexual harassment against him.
The accused Shamshad was lodged in jail in connection with the month-old case and recently came out on bail. He had been pressurising her to take back the case but the 25-year- old woman refused to relent, SHO K P Singh said.
The woman claimed in her complained that Shamshad entered her house forcefully yesterday and poured kerosene on her but she managed to escape before he could light a fire, the SHO said.

The accused fled from the spot after she shouted for help. A hunt is on to nab him, Singh said.
