A 32-year-old man, wanted for the murder of an Uttar Pradesh police constable, has been arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.
The police arrested Bhoop Ram alias Faeem alias Pappu (32), who carries a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head, from his residence at Loni in Ghaziabad yesterday.
The police also recovered a country-made pistol and one live cartridge from the accused, who belongs to Sangram Pur in Uttar Pradesh's Bareilly.
According to officials, Bhoop Ram was wanted in connection with the murder of constable Ratan Singh, who was attached to a police station in Rampur, in 2009.
Bhoop Ram's other associates in the same murder case have already been arrested.
Besides, he was involved in eight other cases, including attempt to murder, registered against him under various sections of the IPC, Arms Act, Goonda Act and Gangster Act at police stations in Bareilly and Rampur.
"On March 18, information was received about the accused. During initial interrogation, he tried to mislead the team about his identity with the changed name as Faeem and his personal profile. But he could not sustain (the interrogation) for long, collapsed and admitted he was involved in the murder," said a senior police official.
