The accused, identified as Umesh Kumar, allegedly shot dead Tapan (40) at Mathura, as he suspected him to be involved in an illicit relation with his wife, Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ravindra Yadav said.
According to police, Kumar and Tapan met around a year ago at a water treatment plant in Delhi, following which Kumar started working for Tapan, who was an contractor for electrical works.
Tapan had lent around Rs 1,70,000 to Kumar on separate occasions, including for his marriage in June. Kumar brought his wife to Delhi and the three started living in the same house. During the period Tapan and Kumar's wife allegedly got involved in a relationship.
On December 12, Kumar took Tapan to a village in the outskirts of Mathura in UP on the pretext of visiting his ailing mother-in-law, where he allegedly shot dead Tapan with a country-made pistol at a field and took away his belongings, so that his identity could not be ascertained, before he fled.

Meanwhile, Tapan's brother-in-law informed the police on December 13 about his relative gone missing and investigation was taken up in northwest Delhi's Subhash Place police station.
On Thursday, Crime Branch was tipped of about Kumar and he was arrested by a police team from Mathura, the official added.
