The incident took place at around 1.15 pm when two armed militants came to wine shop and shot at the manager identified as Shushil Sangma, Superintendent of Police Davis Marak told PTI.
He said the militants fled away after the incident while Sangma sustained critical bullet injuries on his leg.
Sangma was rushed to a hospital in Williamnagar and later was shifted to Tura Civil Hospital for treatment, the SP said.

Police said the ANVC-B cadres have been extorting in the name of its splinter groups - Matchadu Matchabet (MM), ATF and UALA besides other newly floated militant outfits, the SP said.
A case has been registered and police forces have launched massive operation in and around the area, the police official said.
