PPCB Chairman Ravinder Singh said the the rolling mills and forging units located in these areas are the major source of air pollution.
He said that as a part of corrective measures, Punjab Pollution control Board has persuaded these units to switch over to greener fuels like CNG.
Singh said that as a result, more than 200 units have already entered into an agreement with Gas Authority of India Limited for this purpose.
The PPCB Chairman said all the 334 air polluting large- scale industries requiring air pollution control devices (APCD) have installed the treatment devices while 163 air polluting medium-scale industries have installed the treatment devices.
