Manhunt launched to nab youth for raping teenaged girl

Thane police have launched a manhunt to nab a youth who allegedly threatened a teenage girl and raped her on multiple occasions, police said here today.
The complaint in the case states that the accused raped the teenager at least three times in January, 2014, after threatening to kill her mother and grandmother if she refused to give in to his advances, police said.
Sub-Inspector HL Jagdale of Kolsewadi police station in Kalyan added that the accused, Nikhil Tawre, got hold of the phone number of the girl from somewhere and thereupon started harassing her.
He later went to her house when other family members were not present and raped her, police added.

The accused has been booked under Sections 376 and 3-A of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, police said, adding that a probe is on in the case.
