The police has launched a manhunt to nab a dreaded criminal who killed two Patan-based brothers over an enmity, police sources said here today.
According to a police investigation, one Kirti Makwana (45), a resident of Bandhwad village of Radhanpur taluka of Patan killed one Tulsi Makwana (32) in Radhanpur town yesterday and then abducted Tulsi's elder brother Vaghji Makwana (35) from nearby Shankheshwar village of Radhanpur with the intention of killing him.
Vaghji Makwana's body was found in a canal near Radhanpur highway today afternoon. After learning about Vaghji's murder, a Shankheshwar village police team reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem.
According to Shankheshwar village police sub-inspector M M Chavda, a hunt is on for Kirti Makwana, a relative of the Makwana brothers.
"Kirti is a dreaded criminal, who had killed his own father and gone to jail. Many other offences against him have been registered with the Radhanpur police. We learned that Kirti is also a distant relative of the Makwana brothers," the police sub-inspector said.
"However, when the police arrested Kirti with a gun a few years ago, he developed a grudge against the Makwana brothers, since he suspected that they had informed the police. Thus, he killed both of them one by one. We are now searching for him," Chavda said.
