Manipur chief minister condoles student's death

Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh toddy condoled the death of a school student during an agitation for implementing the Inner Line Permit system in the state yesterday.
In reply to a short discussion on the ILP issue, Singh described the death of Sapam Robinhood, a class IX student, during police action on the agitators, as "unfortunate".
Singh told the Assembly that the state government was seized of the ILP issue and noted that a bill "Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant workers (MRVTMW) Bill" was passed in the last Assembly session to address the issue, a press release issued by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations said today.
He said that he would shortly convene a meeting of representatives of all political parties and legal experts to discuss the possibility of replacing the MRVTMW Bill which was now in the Governor's office for approval after the end of the present session tomorrow.
Earlier, Manipur Assembly speaker Th Lokeshwar Singh admitted a calling attention motion moved by two opposition MLAs of the Trinamool Congress under Rule 71 regarding the situation arising out of ILP movement, the press release said.
