The fifth edition of ITM is being organised by the Union Tourism Ministry in association with the northeastern states and West Bengal.
Inaugurating the event, Singh said this is the first time that Manipur has seen such a large presence of tourism stakeholders from abroad which will lay the foundation for promotion of tourism in the state.
He also stressed on the need for developing air connectivity to the state, especially bringing international flights to Imphal, an official release said.
The ministry has sanctioned 12 projects worth Rs 1,070.07 crore covering all the northeastern states under its flagship scheme of Swadesh Darshan, he said.
48 international delegates, comprising tour operators and mediapersons, from Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Italy, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Russia, Singapore, Spain, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the UK and the US, among others are taking part in the event.
About 80 tour operators from the northeastern states and West Bengal are also participating in the event which is also being attended by other tour operators from different regions of the country.
