During his visit yesterday, the governor met village chiefs and district officials, official sources said here today.
Village chiefs and officials gave a detailed report to the governor who assured them that he would take up the fencing issue with the state and central governments, the sources said.
A team headed by Manipur's principal secretary home visited the areas on Monday and it would submit a report to the state government which would be forwarded to the Centre.
The state government had earlier urged the Centre to ask Myanmar to stop construction of border fencing until a joint survey of the areas by both governments.
Manipur Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh had urged the central government to settle the issue with Myanmar authorities at the earliest, the sources said.
