Manipuri woman found dead under mysterious circumstances

A 20-year-old Manipuri woman, who had come to Delhi just a week ago in search of a job, was found dead under mysterious circumstances in South Delhi's Vasant Vihar area here today, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Aben Sofia who was staying with her distant relatives. They lived in a rented accommodation in Munirka area and worked in a Gurgaon-based call centre.
"Prima facie, it doesn't look like a murder but we are investigating the case from all possible angles. We are waiting for the post-mortem report to zero in on the exact cause of her death," said a police official.
Sofia had come to Delhi from Manipur a week ago and had asked her relatives to help find a job for her.
"At around 7.30 AM, when Sofia's roommate returned to the house after her night shift, she found her sleeping. Subsequently, she also went to sleep without disturbing her. Later, around 11.30 AM, her brother Moses arrived at the flat who found that some liquid coming out from her mouth," the official said.
When he tied to wake her up, blood started oozing from her nose. The brother-sister immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital where she was declared brought dead, police said. As police was informed about the incident, a police team along with FSL experts reached the spot and lifted forensic evidences from the spot.
Sofia's relatives of brother-sister duo were questioned in this regard who told police that they were not aware of what could have led to her death.
Investigators said they are investigating the case from all the possible angles including food poisoning and suicide.
