Amid raging political fight being played through "letter war" between former Chief minister Nitish Kumar and BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi over alleged medicine scam, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today categorically ruled out ordering a CBI probe into the issue.

"There is no question of ordering CBI inquiry into the issue (medicine scam)...State agency is competent to probe the matter," Manjhi told reporters dismissing BJP demand for inquiry by the central investigating agency into the matter.

"They (BJP) demand CBI inquiry even in the event of a fight between husband and wife," the Bihar Chief Minister said.

The state agency is looking into irregularities in purchase of medicines of nearly Rs 25 crore by a corporation for supply in government hospitals and its report is expected to come soon, he said.

"After submission of report if it comes that something is left out and has not been taken notice of we will see at that time," he said.

BJP leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi and other party leaders have been demanding CBI inquiry into irregularities in purchase of medicine by a newly carved medical corporation during the period when former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was in charge of Health department after BJP left the cabinet.

In response to a letter from Nitish Kumar to Sushil Modi seeking information from him in the case, the BJP leader through a letter last week stuck to his ground and repeated demand for CBI probe.

Manjhi praised senior BJP leader C P Thakur for giving clean chit to Nitish Kumar in the alleged medicine scam, defying party line.
