Many areas in Arunachal Pradesh inaccessible due to flood,

Flood and landslides triggered by incessant rains in the last few days have completely cut off many district headquarters in the state from the rest of the country, officials said today.
The state capital was virtually cut off with its lifeline NH 415 getting totally eroded at the entry point, while the alternate road via Jullang remained blocked leaving only one road through Hollongi en route Lakhimpur district in Assam open, they said.
According to officials, five persons were killed and nine missing as a massive landslide triggered by incessant rains hit eight dwellings in Papum Pare district yesterday.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu has directed the administration to issue orders for evacuation of people living in vulnerable areas of Itanagar and appealed to the people to shift to relief camps.
He also asked the authorities to provide food, medicines, healthcare, drinking water and other services at the temporary relief camp in the Gyan Ganga School campus.
"Inspect and map all vulnerable points in the state capital so that any emergency situation can be handled effectively," Khandu said and directed all departments to prepare a time-bound action plan to tackle the flood situation and send updates to the Home Ministry.

Official sources said the exact extent of damages caused by natural catastrophe has not been assessed yet.
A report from Seppa said that surface communication has been wholly or partially snapped in East Kameng district with rivers Kameng, Bichom, Pappu, Pakke and their tributaries flowing above the danger mark. At Seppa, the water level of river Kameng was at 394 metres.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu over phone and assured all possible support from the Centre and said that the country is with the state during these trying times.
The prime minister enquired about extent of damages caused by the flood, measures taken by the state government the status of relief and rescue operations, sources said.
He also expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives at Laptap village in Papum Pare district and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family members.
Modi said he has directed Union minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju to visit Arunachal Pradesh immediately to take a stock of the situation.
Khandu told the prime minister that the state government is making all out efforts to combat the present situation.
Relief camps have been set up in affected areas and advisories issued to the people to shift from vulnerable areas to relief camps and ex gratia being released soon for the victims.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh also spoke to Khandu earlier and expressed his sorrow and assured all possible assistance of his ministry to the state.
Meanwhile, 20 quintals of food grain were air-lifted to Sagalee, which has been cut off from the rest of the country due to natural calamities.
