'Many Bengali films are said to be inspired by Bard's works'

Veteran actor Barun Chanda, having delivered another measured performance in Bollywood period flick Lootera, says many present day Bengali films are said to be inspired by works of Bards Tagore and Shakespeare.
"These days many works by directors are said to be inspired by great works of literature, mostly by Shakespeare and Tagore. I am not sure if all such works really have that connection with the original works. I don't want to comment on that, neither do I wish to name any film," the cerebral actor, one of Ray's favourites, told PTI.
Chanda, having done a small role in Abir Chatterjee-Raima Sen starrer 'Hrid Majharey' said debutant director Ranjan Ghosh largely succeded in bringing forth the inherent rage and passion which may come gradually in a romantic relationship and the allusions to the Bard will enthuse the audience to see a good movie.

Chanda had delivered a usual, measured performance in Lootera which also starred Sonakshi Sinhaa and Ranveer Kapur.
Director Abhijit Guha, having presented a string of clean, contemporary films for the new age Bengalees including Bapi Bari Jaa, said 'Hrid Majhare' bore allusions to the Shakespearean tragedies from the very beginning and strong references to Othello in the portrayal of the male tragic protagonist.
