Acting on a tip-off that a group of CPI(Maoist) was to assemble near the border, a district police team launched a long-range patrol in the Maoist stronghold and arrested Vijay Modi alias Vijay Burnwal, said Police Superintendent Kranti Kumar.
Kumar told reporters that Vijay tried to flee on his motorcycle, but was chased and nabbed.
He was wanted in various Maoist-related incidents including the Bhalwaghati massacre and attack on a jail van, which led to the escape of 32 Maoist operatives few years ago, the SP said.
