Security personnel today destroyed a Maoist bunker and seized a large quantity of explosives, arms and ammunition in Maoist-affected Giridih district today, police said.
The incident happened during a joint operation carried out by the district armed police and the CoBRA at a place called Jarha, the police said.
The security personnel also recovered four walkie-talkies, two pistols, a large quantity of ammunition, detonators, cooker bomb, gelatin sticks, chemical for making explosives and a plastic drum, the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Giridih district, Surendra Kumar Jha, said while addressing a press conference here.
Jha said he was receiving information continuously about the Maoist activities in Parasnath jungle and launched the operation on the basis of the information.
The operation against the Maoists was on, Jha added.
In a separate incident today, a CoBRA commando of the CRPF was killed and a policeman injured during an encounter with Naxals in Saraikela area of the state today.
