Maoist surrenders before police in Latehar district

A self-styled 'sub-zonal commander' of CPI (Maoists) today surrendered before the police in naxal-affected Latehar district.
Subhash Yadav, a 'sub-zonal commander' of the ultra group and a resident of Serendaag village of the district surrendered before the Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Singh, police said.
The SP handed over a cheque of Rs 50,000 under government's surrender policy to Yadav.
The SP said at least eight cases were registered against Yadav in Latehar and Lohardaga districts.
In an letter to the police, Yadav's wife informed that he (Yadav) was influenced by the government's surrender policy and expressed his willingness to surrender, Singh said.
On the basis of the letter by Yadav's wife, the SP said the special branch verified and found that Yadav was active in the naxal outfit between 2013 to 2016 and promoted to 'sub-zonal commander'.
