'Maoists' beat two villagers, threaten three others

Suspected Maoists allegedly thrashed two residents of Mukunoor village in the district and also threatened three others over a dispute between some villagers and the victims, police said.
The incident took place on Saturday night at the village located under Mahadevpur police limits nearly 120 km from here, Circle Inspector G Krishna said.
"There was a dispute between some landlords and members of a backward community about a couple of months back at Mukunoor village. People from the backward community reportedly approached the Maoist leaders of the local area over the issue," he said.
On Saturday night, the suspected ultras, headed by Bade Damodar called the landlords outside the village and thrashed two of them and threatened three others with dire consequences.
Krishna said that though no complaint has been lodged in this case so far, police have suo moto registered a case against the accused.
