Maoists blame govt policies, mining for abduction of TDP men
Press Trust of India Visakhapatnam Five days after the abduction of three local TDP leaders in GK Veedhi, the CPI Maoist 'East Division Secretary' Kailasam today released a letter saying the "anti-people" policies of TDP government in Andhra Pradesh was responsible for it.
Despite the protests against the bauxite mining in Vizag Agency, the TDP government was pushing mining at the cost of the livelihood of the tribals, the letter said.
The Naxals have also given Vizag Agency bandh call on October 12 and 13.
TDP leaders Mamidi Balayya Padal, Vandalam Balayya and Mukkala Mahesh were kidnapped by rebels from GK Veedhi area of the district on Monday after they went to meet the Maoists following an invitation.
District Collector N Yuvraj said the rebels so far had not made any specific demands for the release of three leaders, and the administration was doing everything to secure their release.
