The "attitude" of Nepal's four major political parties, including UCPN-Maoist and Nepali Congress, have forced CPN-Maoist along with smaller parties to boycott the election process, hardliner Maoist leader Mohan Baidya said today.
He blamed the four major parties for barring CPN-Maoist from sitting for talks.
"The attitude of the four parties -- UCPN-Maoist, Nepali Congress, Joint Democratic Madhesi Front and United Madhesi Front -- towards CPN-Maoist forced it to boycott the upcoming Constituent Assembly election," Baidya, chairman of CPN-Maoist, the breakaway faction of UCPN-Maoist, said.
He was speaking after inaugurating the first council meeting of the All-Nepal Teachers' Organisation in Lalitpur.
"The new constitution is a must to institutionalise the achievements made through the Maoist people's war and the second people's movement," Baidya said.
Leaders of the four political parties in the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) were responsible for the first Constituent Assembly's failure to draft the Constitution, he said. "Thus there is no hope that they would promulgate constitution from the next Constituent Assembly as well."
