Maoists torch poclain machine, truck over non-payment of levy

Maoists have torched a poclain machine used in sand excavation and a truck over non-payment of levy by a contractor in Gaya district, a police officer said today.
A group of Maoists torched the machine at Bajitpur Balughat area last night after the sand contractor refused to pay them levy, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nishant Kumar Tiwari said.
In a related incident, the ultras of the proscribed Maoist outfit, People's Front of India, set a truck ablaze at Baheriabigha village, he said.
The utras' torched the truck after the contractor engaged in construction of road under the Pradhan Mantri Grameen Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) between Baheriabigha and Harna villages failed to pay levy to them, Tiwari said.
FIRs have been lodged in connection with both the incidents and raids were being carried out to nab them, the SSP said.
