The event was organised by the transport department of the Uttar Pradesh government to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims.
It was for the first time that a marathon was organised on the occasion.
A large number of schoolchildren, athletes and people participated in the marathon that started from K D Singh Babu Stadium here, an official spokesman said.
Speaking on the occasion, Principal Secretary (Transport) Kumar Arvind Singh Dev said for the first time such an event was organised in all districts of the state.

Dev said driving in a hurry would save only 5 to 10 minutes.
He said while rash driving increased the possibility of accident, it was minimal if patience is maintained.
